Smithy’s Cromwell Cherry Orchard
Smithy’s PYO Cherries is owned by Alan & Coral Smith. They chose to open up their previously export only cherry orchard so that everyone can get a taste of their delicious cherries.
Smithy’s Cherry Orchard was planted out back in 2014 and since then they have been exporting the top quality fruit for overseas market. However they have now decided not to export the best but instead to offer their large, export grade cherries direct to the NZ locals and overseas visitors to come in and pick for themselves.
PYO is a great summer activity that the whole family can enjoy. Little ones can help their parents pick juicy cherries from the low hanging espaliered branches. Older kids and adults can climb the ladders to reach the higher cherries. There are plenty of green spaces in the orchard for picnics and several picnic tables dotted around. The farm animals love to meet new people too! The Smithys team sell real fruit ice-creams on-site too.
